To Begin...

So you plan to open a new restaurant? Congratulations on your choice. One of the major factors that you are going to need to consider is how much this venture is going to cost you? This is what we will be dealing with in this particular hub.

How Big?

One of the major factors that will determine how much you will eventually need to "dish out" is the size of the restaurant.  As you can imagine, a 10 seat little diner will cost a lot less than a 250 seat high-class palace.

What Do You Plan To Serve?

One of the other major costs to take into consideration is the food you will be serving.  Certain foods come with additional expenses.  Consider a seafood restaurant for example.  If you are planning to serve lobster or oysters, then you not only need to consider how much they will cost, but their storage needs as well.  You are going to need refrigeration...and lots of it.

Permits!

You didn't think that you were going to open up a restaurant without the government getting involved did you?  Depending on where your restaurant is located, you are going to need building permits.  You will need licenses to serve food and alcohol.  The list goes on.  Be sure to check with local officials before you open your doors.

How Fancy

Now here is where the expenses are really going to start to add up.  If you plan to open a very simple cafe then it won't cost as much for furniture and furnishings.  What about a classy high end restaurant.  Have you looked at how much these chairs and booths cost?  Don't assume you know the price...the actual cost may shock you, and should definitely be taken into consideration.

Advertising

What good is a restaurant if nobody comes?  You will be out of business in short order.  Advertising can help you out, but this will cost you some money.  Business cards and leaflets won't cost as much.  If you work your way up to television you are going to need some dollars in that bank account.

Inventory

You don't want to be rushing off to the store to get supplies every time you have a new customer. This is where inventory comes in to play. You will need food of course, but how about an extra dinner set or two?  Don't forget the forks, knives and spoons. Be sure to figure this cost in.

In Conclusion

As you can see, there are various factors that you will need to take into consideration before you open the doors of your new restaurant. With a bit of homework your new eatery will be a stunning success. All the best in your new business venture.
